Abbie R Powers is an installation, performance and video artist working with silk, mixed media, the female figure, movement and video projection. Hand-dyed expanses of silk reference the sublimity of the natural world, the intimacy of the figure, and the evanescence of our breath. The figure communicates through modern dance movement while video projection brings to life painted and sculpted works.
Powers is born of the dirt and sky of Nebraska, educated by the restless ocean of Massachusetts and lives and works in Loveland, Colorado.
She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, MA (2010) and a Bachelor of Science in Studio Arts from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska (2007).
Her work is in several private collections, has been sponsored by the NEA and Artplace America, featured in Sunset Magazine, and has been exhibited nationally at such venues as Wayne State College, Concordia University in Nebraska, The University of Northern Colorado, Dallas Theological Seminary, and The University of Colorado Denver. She is a full-time installation and performance artist and holds a studio at Artworks Loveland in Loveland, Colorado.
